My Professional/Personal Balance

September 23rd, 2008 by Anthony in Life, Work

Recently I decided to get back into blogging to help myself keep up to date on new technology. However, there are many topics I would love to write about in addition, relating to life experiences, current events, and much more. So where do you draw the fine line between these topics of personal opinion and your professional image? Does blurring the fine line sometimes help make you more personable? I believe it does.

In the past four months I have had a wide variety of eye opening experiences from adapting to a routine 8a-5p work schedule, having friends move away after graduating, graduating myself, making new friends through work, and so on. Through these experiences I have learnt that my personality and personal relationships directly effect my professional perception and performance. Because of this, I feel it is very important to allow your personal life and professional life to mix a little (while keeping it all appropriate of course) as it has made me a much more approachable person at work.

In hopes of reaffirming this concept I will be expanding the scope of my blog posts to include a few topics from time to time which are slightly more personal to me. Fortunately, these items will be categorized separate of existing topics for easy separation, and as always comments are greatly appreciated.
